Spending time in your outdoor space, working in your garden, setting up a small vegetable garden or even just relaxing in nature is a true cure-all for the health of body and mind.
The positive effects of a life outdoors have become increasingly evident in recent years, especially for the most "vulnerable" people in the population like children, the elderly and the disabled.
In 2009 "Nature Deficit Disorder" was added as a modern syndrome in the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental disorders". This is why practising garden therapy and gardening activities in general is an important aid to combat anxiety, stress, depression and many other illnesses.
So let's take a look at the health benefits of Garden Therapy and how to practise it.
Travel and the needs of travellers have changed a lot in recent years. In fact, those who decide to embark on a journey are increasingly oriented towards personalised experiences that allow them to satisfy their desires and, at the same time, to fully appreciate the local culture. For this to happen, it is important that close attention be paid to services and furnishings through a Hotel Design that is able to combine and merge style, technology, comfort and harmony with the natural environment.
The pursuit of wellness through hydrotherapy is a practice that dates back to the ancient Romans, who used to spend several hours a day in hot baths to relax and purify the body from toxins. In recent decades spas and hot baths have become increasingly popular, also thanks to the understanding of thermal springs' positive effects on the health of the body and mind. But wouldn't it be nice to be able to enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy without having to leave home?
Your own home can become an oasis of well-being by turning your bathroom into a private spa, renovating your basement or using the outdoor space to install an outdoor hot tub immersed in the greenery of the surrounding nature. Or if you then have a rooftop terrace you can enjoy a refreshing soak in the sky: what could be better than a moment of relaxation with a picturesque view?
In recent decades the concept of "living" has undergone many transformations, in step with the changes that have taken place in society and people's lifestyles. Today the home is no longer just a place for relaxing and getting away from the world, indeed it is increasingly becoming an environment for a full range of activities that in the past were the prerogative of others spaces. The increasingly common trend of smart working, less and less subordinated to spatial and temporal constraints, means that the home can be transformed into a workspace. Similarly, sports and cinema can become indoor experiences thanks to the tools and applications offered by technology. Organising secret concerts or dinners with strangers (social eating) is becoming increasingly widespread in the home, making it a true gathering place.
The Pantone Colour Institute has announced the colour that will accompany us throughout 2019 and that will dictate trends in the fields of fashion, design and furniture, even for the outdoors. After 2018's bold Ultra Violet, this year's choice fell on a more delicate shade, though just as full of verve, an elegant nuance between pink and orange. Indeed, the Pantone colour for 2019 is Living Coral, a colour that recalls the liveliness of the coral reef, chosen by the famous colour-brand to inaugurate a year promoting environmental sustainability, a theme that is also important for contemporary architecture, nature and optimism.
More and more people love to spend their time gardening, growing vegetables and, more generally, staying outdoors, even seeking out green spaces in the city. At the same time, the desire for community is growing, as confirmed by the many experiences of "life sharing" in various areas: from cars to homes, travel, urban gardens and apartment building spaces. This is the case of roof terraces, modern forms of hanging gardens where the passion for do-it-yourself greenery often combines with the desire to share spaces and services in apartment complexes.
Garden Design is the art of designing and landscaping gardens, parks and green spaces, a skill that is increasingly requested to professionals in the sector.
Far from being a purely decorative element, a garden represents a place where people can connect with nature, enjoying the physical and psychological benefits that contact with greenery provides. For this reason, the organisation of the green space, besides reflecting the aesthetic sense of the designer or owner, should be based on a well-defined project that takes into account some fundamental variables like the surroundings, the climate and the time available for its maintenance.
The veranda is an intimate environment, a wonderful space that deserves to be enjoyed all year round. While in the summer it can become a place where you can find shelter from the sun without giving up the benefits of the open air, during the cold season it is necessary to take a few steps to make the veranda an outdoor space that you can fully enjoy many months a year. In addition to using PVC closures, the right outdoor heating system will make your veranda a usable and – above all – comfortable environment, even during the coldest days.
So let's take a look at the most suitable solutions to create a wonderful heated veranda for the winter.
Once again this year, the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has recognised international architectural excellence by awarding the RIBA International Prize, just as coveted as the famous Pritzker Prize. The award follows rigorous deliberations by a jury of experts who selected 20 worthy projects as recipients of the RIBA Awards for International Excellence, decreeing the winner on 28 November.
While we are used to spending time in the garden or on the terrace outdoors during the summer, enjoying nature at its most lush and lively, there is no reason why the space has to go into hibernation once the winter comes. To the contrary, the arrival of the cold season marks the beginning of a new cycle where the outdoor space takes on a different identity, changing in structure, furnishings and colours. Moreover, taking care of your garden or balcony during the winter will let you have the outdoor space of your dreams once the summer is back.
Protecting the spaces against the elements, doing some maintenance on the structures and carefully choosing materials and furnishing accessories are fundamental activities when talking about a garden or a terrace. Let's take a look at some tips for beautiful winter outdoors.
Having a nice garden or a terrace, whether big or small, means being able to enjoy the surrounding natural space without straying too far from the comfort of home. If you then decide to protect your outdoors with outdoorcovers, you will create an environment to enjoy more freely throughout the year.
Bioclimatics, pergolas and sun sails are an excellent solution to create protected, sheltered areas. But not only that: they also allow the outside to be transformed into functional outdoor areas where it is possible to carry out activities en plein air. Versatile and practical environments where you can bring to life projects and desires for an outdoor space tailored to your needs.
Having an outdoor space to enjoy even during the coldest months of the year is a dream that can be fulfilled by building a glass veranda in your garden or terrace. Who among us has never wanted to be totally surrounded by evocative natural scenery, perhaps during a nice snowfall, while staying protected indoors?
A European November is on the way for Corradi, which decided to start the autumn season with 3 trade show events between France and Spain: in Paris for EquipBaie and EquipHotel and, at the same time, in Madrid for Veteco.
The second edition of ArchiLIVE has been launched last October 11th. The exhibition was born from the collaboration between L’Arca International and the Créad Institute of Lyon, a landmark for training and professional updating dedicated to architects, designers and decorators.
In the heart of the second largest commercial district in France, archiLIVE is a working space for companies and architects, for exhibitions and meetings, that comes back this year in the renewed area signed by Patricia Lasserre Torrijos and Lofty Kelsch.
Is it possible to experience the outdoors even in the fall and winter, enjoying the colour and weather changes in complete freedom? We think so, provided that you know how to close pergolas and gazebos in order to create a comfortable environment. An outdoor space that is not only practical and elegant, but that also meets specific technical and personal requirements: this is why the choice of fabric is critical.
Indeed, knowing the various features of outdoor fabrics makes it possible to achieve high performance in terms of protection depending on the thermal and climatic conditions inside and outside your outdoor space. So let's see the types of fabric available and, in particular, the advantages of PVC outdoor closures.
The garden is a fundamental part of our home because it represents a sort of visiting card for our taste and style. For this reason it is important to dedicate time and attention to the decoration of outdoor spaces, an activity that can offer great satisfaction if done right.
Having a lush garden rich in plants and fragrant flowers, perhaps embellished with a fountain or a stream, promotes the well-being of those who enjoy it. If you want your green space to be transformed into a refuge from hectic everyday life, why not opt for a harmonious Feng Shui garden?
A well-organised and properly protected outdoor space offers many advantages, most importantly the possibility of having extra space to enjoy a multifunctional environment to be used many months a year.
Of course, to enjoy your outdoor space it is essential to create a sheltered area by setting up a cover – like a pergola – that can protect against the sun and bad weather. Since this is usually a small structure, in particular in the home sector, and built for the exclusive purpose of creating a shaded area without affecting the surrounding landscape, many people decide to opt for a DIY pergola, without contacting specialists in the industry.
While it is true that there are wonders like the Palace of Versailles, the Villa d'Este in Tivoli, the Butchart Gardens in Canada and many others, when it comes to the outdoors, especially in the private sector, there is no such thing as a "perfect garden". Or maybe there is? Certainly every residential outdoor space must be perfect for those who live in it, tailor made according to their needs including personal tastes and desires, but also unique details that should be reinforced.
The garden, the terrace or the balcony are extensions of our home that deserve to be experienced not only in summer but throughout the year and in any weather conditions. The use of a pergola that protects and enhances your outdoor space can transform the exterior of your home into a comfortable area to be shared with loved ones or simply to be enjoyed in the company of a good book.
However, there is not always enough space to add elements typical of outdoor living. To turn your dream of spending time outdoors into reality the ideal solution is to opt for a wall-mounted pergola, a space-saving solution that is extremely versatile, elegant in shape and lightweight in structure, able to harmonise with your home and the existing structures.
Outdoor design for a café, restaurant terrace, garden of a restaurant represent the showcase of the contract sector. In fact, it takes just a quick look to capture the interest and admiration of customers and guests, provided that you know how to highlight the potential of each environment in the right way. Not only in the summer when people spend more time outdoors, but during every season since care, cleanliness, aesthetics and functionality are not temporary needs but rather keys to success all year round.

Making outdoor spaces accessible throughout the year and flooding the rooms of your house with natural light are factors of great importance for transforming every minute spent in your home into moments of pleasure and well-being. Whether you have a spacious house with a garden or a top floor apartment, the best solution to achieve a total connection with the surrounding world is to install sliding glass doors for outdoors.
The Venice International Film Festival is one of the most important events in the Italian cinema world and beyond. An important cultural event in a very suggestive scenario: this is the Venice Film Festival, to which Corradi takes part
Your home is your private space, where every room should reflect your tastes and personality, allowing you to fully enjoyevery environment alone or sharing it with family and friends.
So comfort and togetherness above all: two concepts that are very dear to the Scandinavians who have been able to transform enjoyment of small daily pleasures into a real lifestyle, a philosophy so important for them that it finds its full expression in the word "hygge", an ancient Danish word that literally means "feeling satisfied", but that in reality expresses much more. Hygge means being together in an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, setting aside problems and maintaining a positive attitude. Hygge is a relaxing dinner with your loved ones, welcoming friends to the house, sipping a tea in front of the crackling fireplace or a beautiful view.
An approach to life that is also reflected in furnishing, breathing life into a real Hygge Style. So let's see what the characteristics of this Scandinavian furnishing style are and how to implement it at home.
Summer offers the chance to fully enjoy the beauty of the season, spending pleasant moments immersed in nature. If you have a garden, the best choice is to equip it with a gazebo or a pergola that lets you create an open-air living space, an area connecting your home with the outdoors. Indeed, back in ancient Rome where the art of gardening was widespread, it was customary to wrap fruit trees with ivy and vines that when connected with other trees formed evocative pergolas. So once you've chosen, the most suitable structure for your needs from among the outdoor covers, why not make it more dynamic and appealing by decorating it with climbing plants for gazebos?
Those who live in cities or on the upper floors of a building often don't have the opportunity to enjoy the comfort of a garden and live moments of relaxation outside their home. For this reason, if you have a balcony or a terrace, it's very important to be able to make the most of it, not only during the summer but also in winter. Verandas for balconies that completely or partially close the terrace allow you to better connect the balcony to the rest of the house, creating an environment that can be enjoyed at any time of day. Depending on the size of the balcony and your needs, the veranda can be used as a living area furnished with sofas and armchairs, or it can be transformed into a charming dining room with a panoramic view. Or the veranda can be a corner for studying, a fitness area, or more simply become a small greenhouse where you can take care of flowers and plants sheltered from the elements.
With the arrival of summer, your home's outdoor space becomes increasingly important, one of the most popular areas of the house. If you're looking for a solution that is not permanent - easy to install and remove - yet comfortable and elegant, the best choice is a sun sail for your garden. Among the most innovative and requested shading systems in the sector, these particular covers are the perfect combination of refinement, efficiency and practicality. Harmonious and lightweight but at the same time robust and safe, thanks to their versatility, the wide range of models available - including some types of custom sun sails - and the possibility of combining multiple sails, they are able to satisfy any need, turning a garden into a little corner of paradise.
After a long winter the summer has finally arrived, and with it a desire to spend more time outside, taking advantage of outdoor spaces even in the city for pleasant moments of relaxation, some spending time by themselves, some in company, some with a good book, others enjoying the sun. Corradi designs and develops solutions for outdoor living with the aim of providing space for time. Time that should be of the highest quality, so we cannot avoid having to deal with sun exposure and risks that "too much sun” can lead to, especially interms of skin health and ageing.
So, how can we protect our skin from the sun, enjoying all the beauty that summer has to offer? Here are some tips.
On 20 June 2018 at the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, the award ceremony was held for the 25th edition of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Award, the oldest and most prestigious award for Italian design given to goods, services and research distinguished by quality, innovation, ethical responsibility and sustainability. 283 projects went through a two-year selection, but only 16 were awarded the Compasso d'Oro, and 56 received an Honourable Mention.
As we are always attentive to the latest developments of Italian and international design, we have followed this event with extreme interest as it shines a spotlight on the tradition of excellence that sets apart products Made in Italy, always on the leading edge of innovation and oriented towards a global market.
"Architecture is a way of thinking and not a job", said the great architect Le Corbusier. This is absolutely true, so much so that now like never before an education in architecture represents an added value, versatile and transversal, able to inspire with an overview of many sectors, from communications to outdoor living, not focused exclusively on operational and design phases. Within this fruitful blend of knowledge it is interesting to explore the contribution of women architects, which is also expressed in an approach and in a sensitivity that are neither better nor worse but certainly different from those of men. The number of women architects is increasing all over the world (in Italy they account for 42% of the total), making "the woman question" in architecture an interesting topic to be studied in all its many nuances.
Turning an outdoor space into a place where you can spend some time relaxing and enjoying the company of others has always been our primary mission. Just like a garden or outdoor area, even a terrace can become a place for relaxing if properly exploited and covered: with the arrival of nice weather and especially the first hot days, it's a good idea to equip your terrace so that you can enjoy it in peace at any time of the day.
A hot summer afternoon can be transformed into a pleasant moment outdoors, making use of covers for terraces that protect against the heat, sun rays or even adverse weather conditions.
For years an international point of reference for architects and industry enthusiasts, the 16th edition of the Venice Biennale Architettura is open to the public until 25 November. It will be hosted in the Giardini, where the Central Pavilion is located, the Arsenale and in Venice's historic city centre.
This year's theme, "Freespace", celebrates the need for free and open space and the importance of architecture in providing for the well-being and dignity of every person, a topic that is also very dear to Corradi, always looking for innovative and customised solutions for every need.
So let's take a look at the programme, participants and the new developments of this Biennale Architettura 2018.
Outdoor covers allow you to enjoy your outdoor space for many months a year, creating precious corners for relaxing and pleasant shaded areas where you can protect yourself from the sun in spring or summer. Furthermore, today pergolas and garden sails are widely used to create hybrid indoor and outdoor environments where light and nature become part of a single domestic living space. If you have chosen an aluminium or wood pergola with fabric like Pergotenda® Corradi for your home garden or outdoor area, it will be useful to know how to clean the awnings on a regular basis to protect the canvas against mould and humidity, maintaining its performance and beauty over time.
In early March the prestigious Pritzker Prize was awarded, a recognition that since 1979 has celebrated the career and work of living architects who have made a substantial contribution to humanity and environmental development.
The 2018 Priztker Prize saw the triumph of the Indian architect Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi, who over the course of his long career has designed hundreds of buildings, making the traditional and artisanal methods of his country dialogue with the techniques of prefabrication.
Living in the outdoor spaces of our homes also means being able to spend time together and relax during the evening, especially when the weather is nice. Choosing the right outdoor lighting is essential for enjoying your garden in all serenity, even after sunset many months of the year. This not just for the practical purpose of providing visibility at night, but also because a well-lit outdoor area is a safe one and therefore a place of true well-being. In addition, outdoor lighting can become a perfect decorative element if used to enhance the surrounding environment, its forms and its unique features.
Milan is a lively city, always on the move, a world landmark for trends and innovations: a city that never stops, just out of a hectic Design Week, kicked off the fuorisalone of taste this week.
Until May, 13rd, Milan Food Week and Milan Food City are lighting up the Italian metropolis again, with a tasty program: at Palazzo Bovara, two Pergotenda® Millenium® Celeb recreate the ideal outdoor space for show-cooking, samplings and food talks organized by Confcommercio Milan.
The "Corradi Days" are back: it’s the event organized in Germany and Austria that keeps on gaining success year after year.
13 Master Dealers involved for an Open Day (on May, 26th), to know all the Corradi news - such as Pergotenda® Millenium® Celeb - and to discover the dedicated promotions on lights, bicolor and vertical closures, valid until June, 2nd .
Like every year, in April Milan becomes the undisputed star of one of the most important events related to the world of design and architecture at international level.
The Salone del Mobile and the Fuorisalone 2018, from 17th to 22nd April, have in fact animated the Milan Design Week, enhancing, once again, the central role of the city on topics such as the culture of design and the importance of the Made in Italy worldwide.
Whether it's a garden, a private courtyard or a café or restaurant terrace, your outdoor space deserves to be enhanced with covers for exteriors that are able to make the most of their distinctive traits, in harmony with the surrounding environment. There are many advantages: while on the one hand - especially in the residential sector - pergolas and canopies shape a portion of the external environment to protect people from the sun and weather and to allow them to spend more months of the year outdoors, in the commercial sector outdoor furnishings for cafés or the pergola of a restaurant have the added benefit of adding useful space.
We have just been through what is probably one of the most severe winters of recent years. Now that Burian, the snow and the Siberian temperatures are just an icy memory, we can finally welcome the coming of spring. And what better way than to plan how to furnish a garden in spring?
Once again Corradi is heavily involved in Milano Design Week: six days during which the Milanese metropolis is preparing itself to be the undisputed centre of all the events connected to the world of architecture and design, and which after its success year after year has become the protagonist of a much broader project.
As part of an event that grows out of the main hubs of the city and that provides opportunities for fusion, construction and development of a shared design culture, Corradi will participate in Milano Design Week with five macro events at three different locations.
Today in the world of outdoor furniture the term pergotenda is used in a generic way to identify a type of product consisting in a pergola structure covered by retractable canvas.
However, Pergotenda® is actually the registered trademark of a Corradi patent that created a whole new market. In fact, before its invention there was no product with a mobile stacking cover, so the brand not only comprises the name but also its unique and unrivalled technical specifications.
Every anniversary is a special occasion for balances: 40 years have passed since the foundation of our company in Bologna, a workshop for the production of awnings at that time. Moreover, 20 years already since the Pergotenda® patent, which marked a decisive turning point in sun protection, effectively opening a new market and making Corradi a benchmark in the sector.
This year the experts at Pantone Colour Institute have come up with a difficult, flamboyant colour, often considered inappropriate (don't dare wear it to the theatre!). No, don't call it violet, because it is much more than that: it is Ultra Violet, the Pantone colour of 2018 that will set trends and be used in combinations and experiments in the worlds of fashion, design and furniture until December. We have studied it for you and we want to reveal what we have discovered, especially when it comes to using the colour of the year in outdoor furniture.
