Spring: A Season of Light. How our use of outdoor spaces changes (and how to design these areas with purpose).
Spring is more than a change of season; it’s a shift in rhythm, in light, and in the way we live. Each year, it marks a return to outdoor living. However, in 2026 this shift is more significant than ever. The desire for outdoor spaces that are more comfortable, brighter, and user-focused is growing. This is reflected in a design approach that prioritises well-being, flexibility, and quality of life.
At Corradi, we see this transformation up close, living it through our projects, our clients’ requests, and the evolution of outdoor architecture. March becomes the ideal moment to ask what it means to design a truly valuable outdoor space, and how to create environments that remain functional, welcoming, and beautiful over time.

The value of natural light: the most precious design material

The clearest trend is the search for a “soft”, adjustable light, able to adapt to the changing needs of the space.
It is no longer just about shelter, but about light control:

Bioclimatic pergolas
Structures that modulate shade, ventilation and brightness through adjustable blades, creating the perfect environment - at any time of day - in just a few seconds.

Sliding canvas covers
Solutions such as Pergotenda® or pergolas with a pantograph canvas that allow you to shift from full light to total protection with a simple gesture.

Sun sails
Born from nautical tradition, these solar shieldings combine design and technology, treating light as a living, moving element.
Outdoor well-being starts right here: in the ability to control light in a natural, seamless, and personalised way.

Solutions such as Alba Butterfly or Defense sails are designed precisely for this: to adapt, transform and interact with their surroundings.

Outdoor comfort: a concept ever closer to indoor living

The boundary between indoor and outdoor spaces is becoming increasingly blurred. In fact, there is a growing desire to experience outdoor living as a natural extension of the home, as well as of commercial spaces (such as cafés, hotels, and restaurants).
This is why we increasingly speak of:
  • functional micro-environments, created under wall-mounted or freestanding pergolas, designed to offer real, long-lasting comfort.

  • high-performance materials, with aluminium now the key material for outdoor structures. This is thanks to its strength, durability and aesthetic appeal.

  • aaccessories that make the difference, such as integrated lighting, heating, vertical screens or panoramic glass doors

The key is to offer real comfort, not just aesthetic quality: a space that can be used at any time of the day, across multiple seasons, with no compromises.

Sustainable outdoor spaces: more mindful choices, longer-lasting designs

In the outdoor world, sustainability has become a key design criterion. More and more people are looking for solutions that maintain their performance over time, minimise the need for invasive maintenance, and work in harmony with the natural context in which they are placed.
In our sector, this translates into specific choices: recyclable, durable materials, such as the aluminium used for our structures.

It also means systems that enhance indoor comfort, for example by positioning the covers close to French windows to encourage a natural lowering of indoor temperatures. And finally, it involves designs that interact harmoniously with existing architecture, integrating with discretion and visual continuity.
An outdoor space is truly sustainable when it preserves its beauty, efficiency and coherence over time.

Design as experience: people at the centre

2026 marks a significant change in the way people experience outdoor space. The outdoors becomes a place to regain focus and time for oneself, but also a setting for conviviality and connection. It is increasingly used as an environment for flexible working or as an area in which to recharge, away from enclosed spaces.
Designing an outdoor space means creating a complete experience: defining atmospheres, rhythms and uses that support the everyday lives of those who use it.

Spring 2026: an invitation to imagine

With the arrival of spring, outdoor spaces once again become an open possibility.
More light, more time, more desire to be outside.
It is the ideal moment to imagine how to transform a terrace, garden, veranda or hospitality area into an authentic place, where a renewed sense of lightness can be rediscovered.
