Situated on the banks of the Naviglio Grande canal in Milan, Canottieri Olona, founded in 1894, has over the years become a meeting place for sport, relaxation and wellness for the whole family. Today, thanks to a project by the Lombardini22 architecture firm, it has a new face: an attractive wellness and fitness oasis that was completely renovated in 2015.
The Lombardini 22 studioFounded by six professionals with different backgrounds who have introduced an innovative approach to design, Lombardini22 represents excellence in the field of Italian architecture. Furthermore, thanks to its multidisciplinary and multi-author approach, it offers in-depth analysis and strategic pre-project consultancy, involving specialists in architecture, engineering, marketing and communication.
The project for Canottieri Olona 1894The project dedicated to the restyling of the Canottieri Olona 1894 sports centre saw the realisation of an impressive relaunch plan and the consequent redevelopment of the entire structure for a better functional layout of the interiors. The reorganisation of the spaces has given new life to an environment where people can enjoy themselves and relax. In fact, it offers numerous opportunities to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, promoting greater involvement of people and a stronger link with the surrounding area.
The fitness areaIn addition to the entrance areas, reception, restaurant, and clubhouse, one of the highlights of the Canottieri Olona 1894 project is the innovative training area built under some of our Imago® bioclimatic pergolas.
Overlooking the Naviglio, the gymnasium is the area that underwent the first change and started the transformation of the club. First of all, its relocation from the basement to the first floor immediately ensured the better quality of the fitness space, which now boasts natural lighting and a direct view of the Naviglio Grande canal. This area is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for “Neuroreactive Training” in the areas of high performance, sports rehabilitation, fitness and wellness.
The choice of Imago® was strategic because the structure, featuring blades that can be adjusted by up to 135°, allows precise control of sunlight and ventilation. The design of Imago® with its multifunctional pillars housing downpipes, screen runners, electrical outlets and USB connections is the perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics. Moreover, it offers an outdoor workout experience 365 days a year, thanks to its ability to transform the space from indoor to outdoor in seconds.
The project we were involved in with Lombardini22 for the renovation of Canottieri Olona is an example of how flexibility, innovative architecture and technology can come together to create functional, unique and successful projects, the result of a collaboration between architects, engineers and designers. The redevelopment has transformed the sports club into a state-of-the-art, modern place, both in terms of its design and the social value it has brought to its community.
